Calivigny Island
Calivigny Island is located off the coast of Grenada. It is one of the world’s most opulent and beautiful private islands for rent. Calivigny is a Caribbean paradise. It is set over 80 tropical acres with 24 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 48 people. Calivigny is a short boat ride from the mainland of Grenada. It is surrounded by turquoise seas and has six beautiful pristine beaches. Could there be anything more dyllic than a private island to enjoy with you and your loved ones in total safety and privacy. There is no better place to do that than on Calivigny Island.
The moment you step on the shores of Calivigny Island, you will be overwhelmed with a sense of peace and beauty. You will have arrived at one of the most exquisite and most exclusive vacation destinations in the world. Your private resort experience at Calivigny includes a fleet of beautiful boats, private chefs and butlers. There is a fabulous array of thrilling activities to occupy you. Calivigny Island also has six gorgeous beaches.
The accommodation is split between the main Beach House with 10 bedrooms, The Overhang House with 8 bedrooms, and three Beach Cottages with 2 bedrooms each. Each of the houses whilst very different is united by luxury.
The heart of the island is the Beach House. This is located close to the quay on the northwestern side of the island. It is simply palatial with 10 exquisite suites and a huge living room fit for royalty. The architecture of the main beach house is Balinese in style on the exterior. The internal décor is more French. Think of a grand French Chateaux like the Palais de Varsailles. Each of the rooms is different and has some unique and delightful touches. The master bedroom takes up a full wing of the Beach House. The other wing has an exquisite wooden staircase that leads to the mezzanine level of the house.
The Rotunda Roomis located in the main Beach House. This is the island's main living and gathering area. It is exquisite and perfect for a cocktail party or special dinner. The furnishings and fittings were designed by Oscar del a Renta and Richard Frinier. The décor is offset by beautiful pieces of artwork and hand-crafted sculptures. The Rotunda room leads directly onto the terrace and pool area. The main Beach House also houses the island's fully equipped gymnasium and billiards room.
The overhang Residence has 9 beautiful bedrooms. It is on the most northerly point of Calivigny. It is modern and very contemporary providing a great contrast to the Beach House.
Lastly, the 3 Beach 2-bedroom Cottages provide a lovely cozy, intimate accommodation option. Perfect for clients looking for total peace and quiet.
Many of our guests to Calivigny Island just wish to enjoy the idyllic beaches, beautiful tropical scenery, and incredible nature. If should you wish to be more active, there are plenty of opportunities to do so.
There is an enormous free-form swimming pool located close to The Beach House and quay. The pool is one of the most beautiful we have come across and also one of the largest. It has a spectacular swim-up bar. This overlooks the sea and mainland of Grenada. The pool is surrounded by supremely comfortable sunbeds. A great spot from which you can enjoy the beautiful tropical sunshine.
6 beautiful pristine white sandy beaches ring Calivigny Island. Each one is more beautiful than the last. One of the most wonderful advantages of renting a private island such as Calivigny is that the beaches are private. They are available for only you and your guests to enjoy. The seas around Calivigny are also particularly great for snorkeling and scuba diving. There is lots of beautiful sea life and coral to enjoy.
There are a variety of great watersports available to you when you stay on the island. Everything from windsurfing jet skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, and fishing. In addition, Calivigny comes equipped with a fleet of beautiful boats. These may be used for deep-sea fishing or a relaxing sunset cruise.
If you feel like going further afield, it is possible to charter one of the boats to do some scuba diving around the Grenadines and the famous Tobago Keys. This is where the movie The Pirates of The Caribbean was filmed.
Throughout the island there are secured jogging paths. These are also suitable for cycling. You are welcome to take one of the island's complimentary bikes to explore your private piece of paradise. There is a full-sized floodlit tennis court on the island. In additon there is a fully equipped air-conditioned gym with all the latest weight lifting, Pilates, and cardiovascular equipment.
Other activities on Calivigny Island include a concert grand piano which has an automatic playing system. There is a billiards room, a games room with a poker table and a great selection of board games as well as a croquet lawn. Last but not least there is a great treehouse on the eastern side of the island. This is great fun for the young or young at heart.
For nighttime, the professional team at Calivigny Island can organize anything. This ranges from fireworks displays to bonfire nights and barbeques to formal gala dinners.
There is a giant portable movie screen that can be set up in various locations around the island. This gives you the opportunity to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster in a completely unique setting.
Cuisine on Calivigny Island is taken very seriously. Much of the food served is grown in the island's huge greenhouses and surrounding lands and gardens. The island's chefs are all handpicked for their excellence. They take total pride in providing the best farm-to-table experience possible. They are all very talented and will create tailor-made menus for you and your guests. It is also possible to eat in many different locations on the island. This ensures that each mealtime is completely unique experience. Dine in the formal Rotunda room, on the Pool Terrace, or have a beach barbeque on one of the island's six beautiful beaches.
Should you wish to leave your private island paradise, the mainland of Grenada is just a five-minute boat ride away. Grenada is the undiscovered jewel of the Caribbean. It is beautiful and full of history and culture. It has some of the best rainforests and is famed for its amazing waterfalls, chocolate, rum, and spices. Grenda has been nick named spice island for a very good reason. Alternatively, a visit to the Grand Etang National Park is worth a visit. It has lush vegetation and mountain peaks. The historical Fort George Battlements are a;sp both worth a visit. There is plenty to do and see. Calivigny island is one of the safest of the Caribbean islands. Here you can feel totally relaxed.

THE BEACH HOUSE
The Main Beach House is a spectacular combination of a French Colonial style mansion and authentic Balinese-style design. The Beach house has 10 exquisite suites sleeping up to 20 people. The furnishings and fittings have been designed by both Oscar de la Renta and Richard Frinier.
The Beach House is located close to the entrance harbor and surrounds the very beautiful free-form swimming pool which tends to be the gathering spot on the island for get-togethers with friends, family, and loved ones.
The Master suite also called the Nutmeg Suite warrants a special mention. It is almost 4,000 square feet in size and comprises a private salon or sitting room and an exquisite separate bedroom overlooking the pool and ocean.
The marble bathroom is totally spectacular with handcrafted sculptures, his and hers showers, and a huge private jacuzzi-style bath as the centerpiece overlooking the gardens.
Everything about the Nutmeg suites oozes sheer luxury, indulgence, and extravagance.

THE OVERHANG RESIDENCE
The Overhang House on Calivigny Island is very contemporary and chic in both décor and architecture offering a very different feel and experience to the Main Beach House. The location of The Overhang Residence is hard to beat as it is the closest to the beautiful turquoise Caribbean waters that surround Calivigny Island. The result is the views from all bedrooms, and all living areas are breathtaking. This is where you will go to sleep and wake up to the beautiful, hypnotic sounds of the ocean lapping against the shore very close by.
The house is full of beautiful contemporary pieces of art and sculptures which are offset beautifully by modern and very luxurious furnishings which famous designer Christopher Guy has designed.
